The name “Golden Dolphin” originates from a
mythological history: in the city of Lasos
that is in front of the Gulluk Bay a boy has
lived, Hermais. One day Hermais went to swim
with his friends. His friends came back to the
shore, but he did not. This sad news expanded
in the city and the people of Iasos mourned.
After a long time, a fisherman saw Hermais while
he was swimming with a dolphin. Although the
fisherman tried to catch them, he could not
because of the big waves. He told the
people what he had seen, and Hermais’s
mother ran to the shore but she could not see
her son... One day, a dolphin
brought Hermais to the shore on his back, Hermais
was dead. Although the dolphin tried to go back
to the sea, he could not and he died next to
Hermais. To keep this friendship between Hermais
and the dolphin alive, the people made
a golden statue. From that time on, and still
today the Hermais- and-Dolphin statue
symbolizes friendship and fidelity. It continues
to live on in the name and logo our hotel, the
Golden Dolphin.
